What Were They Thinking?:

Honor Society, who are currently touring around the US must be quite happy with themselves at the moment. Why?, Well this, their amazingly covered and titled album - Fashionably Late, has the guys sitting at number 18 on the Billboard Top 200 - Great news! Anyway, this, their debut release, sits them somewhere between the late Michael Jackson (vocally at least!), Jesse McCartney, The Backstreet Boys, Hanson and any "rock" band you care to mention - And I'm quite taken with it and I'll definitely be spinning this one in time to come! But, On with my review we shall head

Honor Society To Perform At Fundraiser

Posted: 27 Sep 2009 | Melody

Pearl River, NY - Honor Society, one of the hottest up-and-coming pop bands in the nation, will make a special appearance at the Little Bit o’ Sole 5K Walk for Life on Oct. 4 at the Blue Hill complex in Pearl River.

The primary beneficiary of the event is the Active International Cardiovascular Institute (AICI) at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern.

“We’re very excited to have Honor Society performing at the Walk for Life,” said Joe Allen, Senior Vice President of Community Affairs for Active International and co-chair of the Little Bit o’ Sole 5K Walk for Life. “The band is spending the entire summer playing sold-out shows with the Jonas Brothers, one of the most popular bands in the world, and the fact that they will be playing here in Rockland is pretty amazing. I’m sure it will be a lot of fun for everyone.” In addition to opening for the Jonas Brothers, Honor Society is also on its own “Full Moon Crazy” tour.

For some grade-A music (and buzz), join the Honor Society

Posted: 24 Sep 2009 | Melody

Two years ago, four musicians from Rockland County, N.Y., were pretty much like any other local band in the country - unknown.

Michael Bruno, Jason Rosen, Andrew Lee and Alexander Noyes - the Honor Society - made their own EP and booked their own shows, which included a lot of house and pool parties.

Then they met the Jonas Brothers ... and things have been crazy ever since.

The Jonas Brothers got a copy of their music and heard the Honor Society play, then signed the guys to their label. This summer, they invited them on the Jonas Brothers World Tour 2009 along with Jordin Sparks, playing in front of thousands of fans.

Now, just 10 days after releasing its debut album, "Fashionably Late," the Honor Society is embarking on its first headline tour, which includes a stop here Saturday night at 9:15 at Big Spring Jam on the WZYP Stage.

Rolling Stone, saying the guys mix "adult savvy with the R&B-influenced songcraft of teen pop," named Honor Society one of the top new bands to watch this year. MTV calls the band buzzworthy.

"We played for a little over a million people," Lee said. "If you went show by show and tried to add it up in your head, the number of people that you played in front of, it was incredible."

Bruno and Rosen, high school friends, connected with Lee and then added what Lee calls the "final piece of the puzzle" when Noyes joined two years ago. The addition of Noyes was huge because he had gone to the same high school as Kevin Jonas, played drums for the Jonas Brothers' backup band and helped get Honor Society on the Jonas Brothers' radar.

"We got the music in their hands, they called us up and struck up a friendship," Lee said. "We've been working with them a year and have experienced rapid growth."

Of course, people constantly are comparing the boy band Honor Society to the ultra-successful Jonas Brothers. How does Honor Society feel about that?

"I think the music speaks for itself," Lee said. "We have musical differences. I know people like to make comparisons when you're a new band because people feel like you've got to compare.

"We don't shun any comparison. They're friends of ours and helped us produce tracks, and we embrace that connection."

Honor Society
Fashionably Late
Pop (Hollywood)

These crafty pop-rock dudes spent the summer warming up arena crowds for the Jonas Brothers, and now the Jo Bros are lending their tween-scene cachet to Honor Society’s debut, which credits Kevin, Joe and Nick as executive producers. (They grow up so fast!) Not unlike the JBs’ recent stuff, Fashionably Late is better the more it sounds like Huey Lewis; “Trouble” shimmers with freeze-dried funk licks, while “Full Moon Crazy” is killer sports-bar soul. The ballads tend toward the wimpy, but you can’t say Honor Society haven’t learned from the best. B – Mikael Wood

Tommy2.net Minnieapolis Review

Posted: 22 Sep 2009 | Melody

Last night, Honor Society kicked off their Fashionably Late Tour at the Varsity Theater in Minneapolis, MN. To go with the theme… it was fashionably late with the all sets running about 40 minutes behind schedule. The show featured two local acts. To start things off, More Like The Movies provided an energetic set that was fun, but could’ve used some polishing around the edges. They definitely managed to draw a nice crowd to support them. Following a short set change, The Melismatics followed with a performance that seemed to be a miss with the crowd. During the second song of set, Jonas Brothers Keyboard player and Minneapolis native Ryan Liestman snuck in and grabbed a seat in the reserved section. Musically they were dead on and were probably the tightest act of the night, unfortunately they’re more sophisticated sound was too much for this crowd. After the performance the crowd noticed Ryan and to say it was a mob scened would be an understatement. He actually was extremely accommodating with fans, even those that were over aggressive.

At 8:27pm, Honor Society made their entrance. Michael, Jason, Andrew and Alexander struck their poses in anticipation to kick off the first night of the Fashionably Late Tour. What happened next featured the four being stuck on stage for five more minutes looking at each other and not playing a single note. After a short huddle the group retreated backstage to wait for six additional minutes while the sound techs worked on getting their backing tracks to work properly. The guys looked more like Freshman on the first day of class not being prepared and showing up to the wrong class. It was painful to see an act of this caliber unwilling to play without pre-recorded assistance and one can only wonder how corporate they’ve gone in the last three months.

The second time Honor Society took the stage, they were ready and so was the crowd. It was definitely a crowd participation night and the fans were loving every minute of it, including ones that had traveled a significant distance to see opening night (including one girl from Mexico City). Vocally Michael Bruno was right on the money and his guitar work was decent although a bit burried in the mix. As always, the charismatic Alexander Noyes proved to be one great example of the role more drummers should bring to the live show. The energy from the crowd was infectious and when Michael addressed them by saying “these our your songs to live your life too” it was more than obvious, what he was stating was the truth. The large fan base of predominantly teenage girls knew every word to every song. In terms of attendance they drew a little over a couple hundred fans (filling about one fifth of the venue) which is significantly less than what they’ve been doing on the East and West Coast.

Honor Society – Runtime: 41 minutes
Pros: Great performance, definitely a must see live band with talented musicians and songwriters. Definitely the best touring act right now.
Cons: Set length is unacceptable. One can only wonder if songs were cut due to their technical difficulties? The band is now requiring fans to buy merchandise to talk with them.
Best Song: See U In The Dark

1. Full Moon Crazy
2. Sing For You
3. Two Rebels
4. Where Are You Now
5. My Own Away
6. Here Comes Trouble
7. Don’t Close The Book
8. Over You
9. See U In The Dark

Honor Society supports 'Fashionably Late' debut

Posted: 21 Sep 2009 | Melody

After juggling an intimate club tour with opening duties for the Jonas Brothers, pop-rockers Honor Society [ tickets ] are spending the fall canvassing the nation behind their brand-new album, "Fashionably Late."

The North American tour, which officially got underway Sept. 13 in Anaheim, CA, continues tonight (9/21) in Minneapolis. The 43-city outing visits clubs and theaters from coast to coast through year's end. The full schedule is shown below.
Honor Society--comprised of lead singer/guitarist Michael Bruno, keyboardist/guitarist Jason Rosen, keyboardist/bassist Andrew Lee and drummer Alexander Noyes--unveiled its full-length debut, "Fashionably Late," last week (9/15). The band, managed by the Jonas Group, released the new album on the Jonas Brothers' Hollywood Records imprint, Jonas Records.

The New Jersey-based quartet's debut EP, "A Tale of Risky Business," surfaced last summer.

"To have been able to finish our first album and create something that we believe is a true representation of where we have been and what we have become is beyond cool," Bruno said in a statement posted at the band's website. "We couldn't have done any of this without our fans believing in us from day one."
